12 GTI CAMSHAFT VARIABLE VALVE TIMING SOLENOID CODE
It is highly recommended to fix the problem as soon as possible and not ignore the problem and continue driving your vehicle when the P0014 code appears on your code scanner. This can cause the pistons to hit the engine valves if something is wrong with the timing belt or timing chain, resulting in complete engine damage which can be very costly. Very Serious: The P0014 code could mean that there is something seriously wrong with your timing belt or timing chain. Clogged oil lines to the VVT or VCT solenoid.Faulty camshaft timing control solenoid. Here are the most common causes of the P0014 trouble code: It can also be caused by a faulty camshaft position sensor, a faulty timing chain, or a timing tensioner. The most common cause of the P0014 is a faulty VCT or VVT valve solenoid, which controls the camshaft timing adjustment. Here are some of the signs you may notice with a P0014 trouble code: You will also likely experience a check engine light on your dashboard. The most common symptoms of the p0014 trouble code are engine performance issues such as a hard start, rough acceleration, or a stalling engine. Bank 2 – Sensor 1 & 2 (Locate O2 Sensors Fast & Easy) P0014 Trouble Code Symptoms If the timing is off on either the crankshaft or camshafts, the engine control module will notice this problem and store the P0014 trouble code and illuminate the check engine light. The timing between the camshafts and crankshaft must be correct for good engine performance, and it uses the crankshaft position sensor and camshaft position sensor to measure this timing. In most cases, this means that there is a problem with your variable camshaft timing control, but it can also mean that there is a problem with the camshaft timing. P0014 indicates that the camshaft position sensors detected an incorrect camshaft timing on camshaft B on bank 1. I have honestly heard more bad than good about Pep Boys. That could be a bad thermostat, low coolant, or maybe a bad coolant temperature sensor. The last check engine code you have p0128 it’s coolant temperature below regulating temperature. Replacing the oxygen sensor should fix sensor codes unless it’s a problem with the related wiring. Codes p0036, p0140, and p0141 all indicate that you have a bad oxygen sensor which is bank 1 sensor 2. Some attempt to clean the screen of blockages to fix the problem but it is best to replace the sensor all together. Oftentimes the screens will get get clogged up or the internal parts of the sensor will go bad. On your vehicle the variable valve timing sensor has screens(filters) on the shaft of it which is meant to direct oil flow and help regulate engine timing. The variable valve timing sensor being bad is likely the cause for code P0017 and p0300.

The variable valve timing sensor is a little more difficult because the power steering pump will have to be removed to take out the long sensor which extends about three inches inside of the engine. The camshaft position sensor is more towards the front of the engine and is a lot easier to replace. The variable valve timing and the camshaft position sensor are two separate sensors. They told me he did not diagnose it right and he did another diagnostic and said it was nothing wrong with my camshaft but told me a lot of other stuff was wrong with it. I decided to take it to another pepboys location so they could scan it and finish the wk there. When I asked if it would futher damage the car by driving it he said it was ok to drive. It was shaking worser with ongoing worser shakes when miss firing I could not pick up any speed.

Left with the same problem he told me to bring it back so he could put it on the scanner on next week Thursday because his scanner is broke.

Pepboys replaced the variable valve timing soleniod and put in not engine light may come back on becase a camshaft may be need. My care has miss fire issues, car is shaking as well with the check egine light sitting on and some times blinking on/off.
